About the position

The Principal/Sr. Principal Industrial Engineer at Northrop Grumman will play a critical role in supporting production operations by maintaining the Master Production Schedule for the Sentinel program. This position requires a strong foundation in Industrial Engineering principles, strategic thinking, and exceptional problem-solving skills to ensure on-time delivery and effective material planning. The ideal candidate will work autonomously, engage with various teams, and contribute to the company's mission of pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Responsibilities

  • Support production operations to maintain the Master Production Schedule.
  • Assist in maintaining supply/demand balance relative to labor capacity and material lead times.
  • Translate program demand plans into ERP system forecasts and drive schedule fidelity to customer delivery.
  • Create and distribute Master Schedule products including Firing Order and Cycle Projections.
  • Develop cost/risk benefit summaries and recommendations for leadership.
  • Utilize process improvement methodologies such as value stream mapping and flow reduction.
  • Engage and collaborate with programs and functional organizations to interpret manufacturing requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science with 5 years of experience; or Master's with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 0 years of experience for Principal level.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science with 9 years of experience; or Master's with 7 years of experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience for Sr. Principal level.
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Interim Secret Clearance prior to start.
  • Experience and understanding of Master Production Scheduling and scheduling principles.
  • Previous planning experience and understanding of MRP logic.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial technology or related technical field.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance within the last 6 years.
  • APICS CPIM certification is a plus.
  • Experience in Supply Chain Management in a DoD environment is preferred.
  • Intermediate/Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of SAP MRP, AutoCad, and discrete simulation tools.
