About the position

The Staff Infrastructure Lead Engineer - Hardness at Northrop Grumman plays a critical role in supporting the Sentinel program by ensuring technical excellence and adherence to stringent quality standards. This position involves reviewing work products, balancing quality with rapid procurement, and presenting information to program management for informed decision-making. The engineer will also coordinate with various technical teams, negotiate priorities, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders while providing regular updates to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Review INF work products via peer reviews and design reviews to ensure adherence to technical baselines.
  • Balance quality standards for technical artifacts with the pace of procurement and construction of test assets.
  • Present information to Program Management for informed decision-making on conflicting technical approaches.
  • Champion process improvements for systems engineering and design teams to define high-quality products efficiently.
  • Review nuclear effects testing and provide recommendations for technical adequacy.
  • Coordinate with technical leadership to identify impacts on INF work scope from external changes.
  • Develop joint solutions to technical challenges across segments and elements.
  • Decompose direction from INF leadership to technical teams and ensure adherence to that direction.
  • Negotiate competing priorities across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal organizations, customers, and industry partners.
  • Provide regular briefings and reports to executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12 years of experience, or Master's degree with 10 years of experience, or PhD with 7 years of experience.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience leading design and/or construction efforts on ground-based telecommunication systems infrastructure.
  • Relevant experience in design or construction of below-ground and antenna-based systems.
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in STEM, preferably in Engineering.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • ICBM Experience.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
  • Experience with Geospatial Information System modeling software, especially ArcGIS.
  • Strong understanding of engineering systems and standards.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in customer presentations.
  • Experience in making sound decisions in uncertain situations.
