About the position

Benzinga News is seeking a talented Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Manager to join our SEO/Audience team. In this role, you will take SEO ownership of our stock market news property, and be responsible for developing, implementing, and continually optimizing SEO strategies, in order to improve organic search performance. The SEO Manager will help analyze data from both SEO, as well as web analytics tools to find valuable insights on our current organic performance, while also looking for future opportunities to grow. This SEO Manager has an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with our news desk to develop content strategies that drive traffic.

Responsibilities

  • Support both the content strategy of Benzinga News
  • Perform keyword research to identify new content opportunities.
  • Identify existing content for updates to grow organic audience.
  • Monitor, identify, and communicate technical optimization opportunities, including but not limited to redirects, canonical tags, metadata, page speed, core web vitals, schema, and more.
  • Write SEO requirements, QA and review all aspects of site code releases to ensure there are no negative SEO implications or impacts.
  • Lead comprehensive SEO site/CRO audits that address UX, navigation, optimizations, mobile functionality that drive business metrics in a meaningful way to impact conversion and revenue.
  • Track organic performance using various tools, including Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Moz, and more.
  • Lead internal training of search optimization best practices to increase overall search knowledge across the organization.
  • Monitor competitive performance for opportunities, and potential threats.
  • Work cross-functionally to support Editorial, Marketing, Business Intelligence, and Audience Analytics as needed.
  • Keep abreast of SEO trends, best practices and search news, particularly regarding algorithm changes that impact organic search results.

Requirements

  • An understanding and love for the markets and the news that covers them
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in SEO, preferably in-house.
  • Experience optimizing financial publishing websites to build organic traffic and drive revenue.
  • Experience utilizing a wide variety of SEO tools such as Moz, Ahrefs, Google Search Console and others to perform analyses.
  • Experience with site crawlers and log file analysis.
  • Proficient and experienced with technical SEO (ex: XML sitemaps, canonicalization, hreflangs, robots.txt, URL redirects, etc).
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working cross functionally with other teams, and how SEO fits into the overarching business objectives.
  • Highly motivated, strategic, curious and innovative but also willing to roll up your sleeves and get in the weeds of the tactical execution that drives progress for search audience growth.
