About the position

The SEO Specialist at Charter plays a crucial role in implementing effective SEO strategies that enhance the visibility and performance of the company's online presence. This position focuses on various aspects of SEO, including keyword research, on-page and off-page optimizations, structured data, and conducting technical SEO audits. The specialist will be responsible for optimizing content specifically for Local SEO and GEO targeting, which involves understanding the unique needs of local markets and tailoring strategies accordingly. In this role, the SEO Specialist will conduct comprehensive keyword research to support both on-page and off-page SEO efforts. This includes recommending and quality-assuring on-page SEO optimizations such as meta tags, headings, and content enhancements. The specialist will also execute off-page SEO tactics, which involve managing Google My Business listings, optimizing the Knowledge Graph, and building quality backlinks to improve site authority. Monitoring and analyzing SEO performance metrics is a key responsibility, as the specialist will provide detailed reports and insights on the effectiveness of SEO initiatives. This includes evaluating the impact of structured data and competitive landscape efforts. Collaboration with the Creative team is essential to ensure that content is optimized for SEO and GEO, aligning with broader SEO strategies and integrating best practices into content development. Additionally, the SEO Specialist will perform technical SEO audits to identify and resolve issues related to site performance, crawlability, and indexing. They will also support competitive landscape analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, managing and tracking SEO projects using a project management platform to ensure timely completion and alignment with objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive keyword research to support both on-page and off-page SEO, including Local SEO and GEO targeting.
  • Recommend and QA on-page SEO optimizations, such as meta tags, headings, and content enhancements.
  • Execute off-page SEO tactics, including managing Google My Business, optimizing the Knowledge Graph, and building links.
  • Recommend structured data markup to improve search engine understanding and visibility of website content.
  • Monitor and analyze SEO and SERP performance metrics, providing detailed reports and insights on the effectiveness of SEO initiatives, including structured data and competitive landscape efforts.
  • Assist the Creative team in optimizing content for SEO and GEO, ensuring alignment with broader SEO strategies, while collaborating to integrate SEO best practices into content development.
  • Perform technical SEO audits and resolve issues related to site performance, crawlability, and indexing.
  • Support competitive landscape analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage and track SEO projects using a project management platform, ensuring timely completion and alignment with objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in front- and back-end search engine optimization with ownership over site performance.
  • 2+ years of experience with website analytics applications (Adobe Analytics preferred) and SEO tools such as Semrush, ScreamingFrog, Google Search Console.
  • 2+ years of experience with data analysis, interpretation, presentation, and delivery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of cable and broadcast television, internet and media products and services.
  • Interest in television and/or media.
  • Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience with local and business platforms such as Yext, Google My Business, Google Merchant Center.
  • 2-3 years of media, agency, publisher, and client or television provider experience.
  • Business analytics and database experience.
