About the position

The Server at Harmony at Martinsburg is responsible for providing courteous meal service to residents and guests in a senior living environment. This role includes maintaining cleanliness in the dining area, assisting residents with their meal orders, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The position requires attention to detail and a commitment to serving the needs of residents, including those with special requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve meals to residents and guests courteously.
  • Clean and reset the dining room after meal service.
  • Maintain knowledge of dining room and kitchen responsibilities and procedures.
  • Operate basic kitchen equipment such as food processors and dishwashers.
  • Keep the work area clean in the kitchen, serving area, and dining room.
  • Assist residents with menu orders and provide beverage service.
  • Refill condiments before and after meals.
  • Report broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.
  • Understand and apply proper serving techniques.
  • Assist with food preparation and proper food storage.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room as needed.
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Complete all other assigned duties.
  • Be attentive to the special needs of residents, including mobility and memory impairments.
  • Assist with tray service and follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
  • Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must wear a clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Ability to read and follow simple instructions.
  • Ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
  • Quick learner with the ability to apply learned principles.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work under close supervision.
  • Physical ability to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.
  • Ability to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
  • Organized and willing to work well with team members.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
