About the position

The Dining Room Server plays a crucial role in providing an exceptional dining experience for residents in an assisted living facility. This position involves preparing food, assisting residents with their meals, and ensuring a clean and welcoming dining environment. The server is responsible for greeting residents, taking orders, serving meals, and maintaining high standards of service and cleanliness throughout the dining area.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and seat residents and guests.
  • Assist residents in sitting and rising from the table.
  • Serve food in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Label and date all food.
  • Keep the dining and service areas clean and sanitary.
  • Interact with residents, guests, and associates in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Take food and beverage orders and serve meals as ordered.
  • Maintain knowledge of food presentation and ingredients in menu items.
  • Clear tables after meals according to company protocol.
  • Deliver and retrieve trays to and from residents' apartments as needed.
  • Assist other associates as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dining room, chairs, windows, floors, and work areas.
  • Assist with washing dishes as needed.
  • Sweep carpets/floors and vacuum daily as needed.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training as directed by the Dietary Services Director.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag.
  • Monitor residents for signs of inability to function independently and report changes in behavior to the DSD.
  • Report maintenance issues, vandalism, or hazardous situations to the DSD.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations regarding residents' rights and maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Follow proper procedures for clocking in and out for shifts and using company equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent OR three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Food serving experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good organizational, rapport building, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and flexibility/adaptability.
