About the position

The Server is responsible for courteously serving meals to residents and guests, ensuring a clean and organized dining environment, and assisting with various dining room tasks. This part-time position requires attention to detail and a commitment to providing excellent service to enhance the dining experience for residents.

Responsibilities

• Serve resident and guest meals courteously.
• Clean up and reset the dining room after meal service.
• Maintain knowledge of dining room and kitchen responsibilities and procedures.
• Operate basic kitchen equipment such as food processors and dishwashers.
• Keep the work area clean in the kitchen, serving area, and dining room.
• Set tables properly for each meal.
• Assist residents with menu orders and provide beverage service.
• Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls before and after meals.
• Report broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.
• Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
• Assist with food preparation for salads and desserts.
• Knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
• Complete all other assigned duties.
• Be attentive to the special needs of residents, including mobility deficits and memory impairment.
• Assist with tray service.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
• Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must wear a clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
• Ability to read and follow simple instructions.
• Ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
• Quick learner who can apply learned principles effectively.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work under close supervision.
• Physical ability to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.
• Ability to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three hours at a time.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
• Organized and willing to work well with team members.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
