About the position

The Server Rack Testing Operator is responsible for conducting functional tests, quality checks, and troubleshooting on assembled server racks to ensure they meet performance standards and technical specifications. This role involves working with network and server hardware, ensuring proper connections, and verifying the system's functionality before final deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed testing of server racks, including power-up tests, network connectivity verification, and performance checks.
  • Ensure all hardware, including servers, switches, and power distribution units (PDUs), is correctly configured and securely installed according to design specifications.
  • Run diagnostic software to test system stability, memory, and CPU usage, checking for any potential hardware or software failures.
  • Identify, isolate, and troubleshoot issues such as connectivity failures, component malfunctions, or wiring errors.
  • Record all test results, including any discrepancies, defects, or failures encountered during the testing process.
  • Perform visual inspections to ensure all components are correctly aligned, cables are properly managed, and no physical defects are present.
  • Install and update firmware or software patches as needed to ensure that the server racks are running the latest versions required for performance and security.
  • Ensure all power and electrical components are properly connected and that the rack passes safety checks, including grounding and voltage testing.
  • Work closely with the assembly and engineering teams to improve processes, resolve issues, and ensure all tested systems meet company and industry standards.
  • Ensure all testing procedures adhere to company protocols, industry standards, and regulatory requirements for safety and performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in electronics, IT, or a related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in server rack testing, data center operations, or hardware testing preferred.
  • Familiarity with server components, networking hardware, and power distribution units (PDUs).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and configuration files.
  • Experience with diagnostic and testing tools for hardware and networking systems.
  • Basic knowledge of software installation, updates, and system configurations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, test logging, and report generation.
