About the position

The Service Center Manager at Dayton Freight is responsible for overseeing all activities within the Service Center, ensuring efficient operations that align with corporate objectives. This role involves managing staff, maintaining communication with customers, analyzing performance metrics, and developing strategies to enhance service delivery and revenue generation.

Responsibilities

• Organize, staff, and manage all Service Center activities efficiently and economically.
• Inspect and measure Service Center performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain excellent communication with both external and internal customers.
• Analyze revenue statistics to identify sales opportunities and develop customer solutions.
• Stay informed about competitor developments and market trends.
• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop Service Center personnel.
• Develop sales and marketing action plans to maximize territory revenue.
• Investigate and report on accidents, job-related injuries, and employee discrepancies, initiating corrective actions as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with safety practices including DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA regulations.
• Evaluate all freight claims and ensure Service Center premises are protected and maintained.
• Facilitate informational meetings with Service Center team members.
• Handle special assignments as directed.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the LTL/Transportation Industry.
• Experience managing drivers and dock workers.
• Experience managing a sales staff.
• Proven ability to develop and follow a budget.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Fluency in English.
