The Service Controls Engineer Automated Machines at SDC will play a key role in providing technical support and resolving operational issues for our customers as well as executing system upgrades. Primarily responsible for handling robot, vision, and software bugs and upgrades. SDC standards are Epson & Fanuc robots, Keyence & Cognex vision systems, and Allen Bradley PLC and HMI software. We are looking for the right individual that can quickly diagnose and fix issues on our machines at customer locations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about automation technology and enjoys problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct onsite visits to customers' facilities up to 50% of the time to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated machines and systems, primarily reviewing and updating SDC robot, vision, PLC and HMI controls on existing SDC machines.
  • Provide technical support to customers via phone, email, and on-site to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the SDC engineering teams and leverage company knowledge to resolve complex operational and maintenance issues.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of installed systems, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations for optimization.
  • Conduct business professionally and helpfully, promoting SDC as a premier solution provider for custom machines, spare parts, future service, etc.
  • Create and maintain the accuracy of post-service reports and other information, as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather customer feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of products and services.
  • Assist project management, and other teams to ensure timely, complete, and accurate service deliveries.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of vision, robotics, PLC, and HMI controls experience, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated machines.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally at least 50% of the time.
  • Formal technical training in maintaining and troubleshooting automated equipment, specifically Epson & Fanuc robots, Keyence & Cognex Vision systems, Allen Bradley PLC/HMI programming, and ignition systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong customer service orientation, with the ability to develop lasting relationships and execute projects effectively to drive repeat business.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50lbs.
