The Service Engineer II role at Microsoft focuses on providing live-site support and innovating support solutions for the Office 365 government cloud service offerings. This position is critical in ensuring the quality, security, reliability, availability, and performance of Microsoft's cloud services, particularly for enterprise and government customers. The role involves resolving complex issues, creating mitigation strategies, and collaborating with various teams to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide live-site support for Office 365 government cloud services.
  • Resolve critical problems and manage various tasks during crises.
  • Create mitigation strategies and collaborate with relevant teams to resolve issues.
  • Escalate matters to the appropriate stakeholders as needed.
  • Contribute to postmortems and share incident resolution details through reports and meetings.
  • Develop incident response and resolution guidance for other Service Engineers.
  • Implement reliable, scalable, and high-performance solutions across teams.
  • Monitor telemetry data and take action to improve system availability and performance.
  • Develop scripts and automation to enhance monitoring and incident response.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 5+ years of technical experience.
  • 1+ year of technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.
  • Management Information Systems (MIS) or other industry-specific Engineering Certifications.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell.
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud services including O365, Azure, and Windows.
