About the position

The Service Manager at Great Dane is responsible for overseeing the performance and profitability of the service department. This role focuses on maximizing service requests and profitability through targeted sales quotas and maintaining strong relationships with customers and vendors. The Service Manager ensures that all service operations run efficiently and effectively while adhering to the highest safety standards in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Protect and maintain all assets of assigned service department.
  • Create a plan to identify all potential service customers.
  • Develop and maintain positive long-term relationships with all customers.
  • Maintain customer service information based on customer needs.
  • Ensure customers have all information on sales programs, including pricing, products, promotions, contract, and special pricing.
  • Develop relationships with vendors.
  • Respond to customer needs with appropriate parts and service solutions.
  • Manage, coach, and train service employees.
  • Review and approve all service purchases.
  • Responsible for meeting sales and DOP forecast.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies for the service department.
  • Monitor costs and expenses.
  • Make regularly scheduled calls to identify service needs with established customers and new accounts both by phone and in person.
  • Ensure that trailers are repaired and invoiced in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Conduct safety activities for the service department (audits, meetings & training).
  • Manage and track all service work, including communication and coordination with vendors, shop foreman, end user, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; college preferred.
  • Previous sales service and management experience needed.
  • Strong industry knowledge.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, sales, and customer service skills.
  • Computer literacy and good organizational skills.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
