The Service Manager at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while supervising and coordinating the activities of employees in the grocery department. The Service Manager also plays a key role in training staff, managing schedules, and addressing customer issues, all while adhering to company policies and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a positive attitude and creates a friendly atmosphere through teamwork.
  • Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, treating customers as the most important people in the store.
  • Encourages employees to greet and assist customers, enhancing their shopping experience.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service to callers.
  • Plans, prepares, and adjusts work schedules for employees, ensuring timely completion of duties.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of employees in all areas of the store in the absence of department managers.
  • Evaluates employee performance and recommends personnel actions such as promotions or transfers.
  • Trains employees in store policies, procedures, and job duties, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Orders merchandise and verifies delivery, ensuring quality and accuracy of inventory.
  • Confers with employees to assist in solving job performance issues and explains store services to customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Two years or more of similar or related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to guide and direct employees and customers.
