About the position

The Service Projects Estimator at Riddleberger Brothers, Inc. is responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare accurate cost estimates for plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC service projects. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure competitive pricing and adherence to safety guidelines, while also providing opportunities for personal and professional growth within the company.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate time, material, and labor cost estimates.
• Follow safety guidelines and policies in support of the company safety program.
• Stay current on code changes related to the industry.
• Read general conditions, determine alternates, allowances, and permit fees.
• Review specifications and drawings, submitting pre-bid questions to architects/engineers as needed.
• Receive project requests from department managers for quoting.
• Compile take-off summaries and enter them into the operating system.
• Create customer proposals based on estimates.
• Prepare 'Request for Quotations' data for soliciting quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Solicit pricing from multiple vendors for competitive comparison.
• Input pricing information updates and ensure accuracy of rough material prices.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of mechanical/plumbing piping and duct systems and equipment in heavy commercial, industrial, and institutional construction.
• Experience with installation of piping systems and/or duct systems is preferred.
• Basic computer skills, preferably with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the plumbing or HVAC industry.
• Familiarity with project management software.
