About the position

The Service Representative in Ambulatory Services acts as the first point of contact for Kaiser Permanente members and patients, assisting them through the registration process with minimal supervision. The role focuses on providing excellent customer service, ensuring proper cash handling, and developing productive relationships with members and patients. The representative is responsible for navigating patients through the medical center, addressing their needs, and providing information about services and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the first point of contact for members/patients and assists with the registration process.
• Practices proper cash handling and reconciliation processes according to established policies.
• Greets members/patients and provides reception services, directing them through the medical center.
• Schedules member and non-member appointments and follow-ups using Kaiser Permanente's computer systems.
• Verifies patients' visits and insurance coverage, assisting with check-in services.
• Provides patient information to family members while adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
• Demonstrates flexibility in addressing various member issues and needs related to operations and member services.
• Follows KP Service Standards and maintains courteous relations with patients and staff.
• Handles cash transactions and ensures accuracy in cash control procedures.
• Performs related clerical duties in support of clinic strategic goals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in customer service and using multi-line telephones.
• Must successfully pass basic computer literacy and cash handling skills tests.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet established performance standards.

• Experience in a medical office background or cashiering.
