About the position

S.A. Comunale is seeking a Service Sales Representative to join our team in Harrisburg, PA. This role is pivotal in promoting and selling our fire sprinkler offerings to General Contractor customers and end users within an assigned territory. The Service Sales Representative will be responsible for estimating and quoting fire sprinkler systems for various commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with customers, ensuring their satisfaction with our products and services. This position requires a proactive approach to establishing contact with prospects, qualifying potential buyers, and developing new business associations to grow our sprinkler service business. In this role, you will be tasked with identifying, selecting, and developing new and existing customer accounts. Effective communication with customers is essential to ensure their needs are met and contractual obligations are fulfilled. You will also be responsible for providing quotes for service and following up on any impairments. A key aspect of the job is to understand customer needs and develop a sales strategy that effectively communicates our offerings. You will be expected to close sales that exceed the sales plan objectives while maintaining a thorough understanding of current NFPA standards and local codes. The Service Sales Representative will work closely with other branch personnel to ensure exceptional customer service from order to delivery. This includes performing customer surveys, developing vendor relations, and obtaining necessary licensing and certifications. You will also be required to execute all company processes and complete paperwork accurately and timely. Continuous enhancement of sales skills and product knowledge is crucial to maintain a professional image in the field. The role involves reading architectural and mechanical drawings to determine proper sprinkler locations for remodel projects and requires travel to customer and job sites as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, select, and develop new and existing customer accounts.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with customers to ensure satisfaction with products and services.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met and resolve customer problems promptly.
  • Provide quotes to customers for service and follow up on impairments.
  • Schedule sales calls and follow up on leads to qualify potential buyers of fire protection contracts.
  • Develop a sales strategy to meet customer needs and promote company offerings.
  • Close sales to exceed sales plan objectives.
  • Read blueprints and understand NFPA standards and local codes.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, general contractors, and end users.
  • Collaborate with branch personnel to ensure excellent customer service throughout the order and delivery process.
  • Perform customer surveys as required.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relations.
  • Obtain necessary licensing and manufacturers' certifications for job functions.
  • Complete monthly calls as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Associates degree in a technical or business discipline or related to the sprinkler fire suppression business is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience selling service contracts in the Fire Protection industry is required.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14, and 20 is required.
  • Knowledge of industry standard practices for service and inspection is required.
  • Valid driver's license and excellent driving record is required.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel) is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous sprinkler design experience including estimating and performing hydraulic calculations is a plus.
