In this position, the Service Specialist will ensure accurate checkout totals for customers by properly weighing, keying, and scanning items. Maintaining a correct money count in the register is critical, as is enforcing quality control and food safety standards. The Service Specialist will verify the accuracy of prices and monitor product and supply levels for reordering purposes. Additionally, unloading trucks and placing delivered items in designated areas is part of the daily responsibilities. The role also requires staying current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods, including checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, WIC, and AML. Customer interaction is a significant aspect of this role. The Service Specialist must maintain a friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to complaints. Assisting customers with locating and selecting products is also a key responsibility. The Service Specialist is expected to notify store management of any opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency. Furthermore, maintaining the fuel station by inspecting gas pumps according to company standards is part of the job. Overall, the Service Specialist must adhere to company safety procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures accurate checkout totals for customers by properly weighing, keying, and scanning items.
  • Maintains correct money count in register.
  • Enforces quality control and food safety standards and ensures dated products are stocked and rotated properly.
  • Verifies accuracy of prices and helps monitor product and supply levels for reordering purposes.

  • Remains current on tender policies and procedures related to checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, WIC, AML, etc.

  • Ensures fuel station is maintained properly by inspecting gas pumps according to Company standards.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of cash register.
  • Basic knowledge of WFM (Workforce Management).
  • Basic knowledge of on-site fuel station procedures.
  • Ability to count and calculate for the purpose of cash handling and sales transactions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with customers and partners.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.
  • Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jack (for partners at least 18 years of age).
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.

Nice-to-haves
