About the position

The Service Specialist at Brookshire Grocery Company is responsible for performing cashier and customer service duties to ensure an efficient front end operation. This role focuses on providing a friendly and clean shopping experience while maintaining product displays and stock levels. The Service Specialist plays a key role in ensuring accurate transactions and adherence to food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform cashier duties and ensure accurate checkout totals for customers.
• Maintain correct money count in the register.
• Enforce quality control and food safety standards, ensuring proper stocking and rotation of dated products.
• Verify accuracy of prices and monitor product levels for reordering.
• Unload trucks and place delivered items in designated areas.
• Stay current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods.
• Maintain a friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers and addressing their inquiries.
• Assist customers in locating and selecting products.
• Notify store management of process improvement opportunities.
• Ensure the fuel station is maintained properly by inspecting gas pumps according to company standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment by adhering to company safety procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age required for operating select machinery.
• TABC/LACT certification required.
• Food Handler certification required.
• Fuel Operator C certification required.
• Basic knowledge of cash register operations.
• Ability to count and calculate for cash handling and sales transactions.
• Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with customers and partners.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives and box cutters.
• Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jack.
