Customer service is a key component of this role, as the Service Specialist is expected to maintain a friendly and customer-oriented attitude. This includes greeting customers, answering questions, and addressing complaints effectively. The individual in this position is also encouraged to notify store management of any opportunities for process improvements. Furthermore, the Service Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the fuel station is maintained according to company standards and that the working environment remains clean, safe, and sanitary by adhering to company safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cashier duties and customer service tasks to maintain an efficient front end.
  • Ensure accurate checkout totals by properly weighing, keying, and scanning items.
  • Maintain correct money count in the register.
  • Enforce quality control and food safety standards, ensuring dated products are stocked and rotated properly.
  • Verify accuracy of prices and monitor product and supply levels for reordering purposes.
  • Unload trucks and place delivered items in designated areas.
  • Remain current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods.
  • Maintain a friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers and answering questions.
  • Assist customers with locating and selecting products.
  • Notify store management of efficient process improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure the fuel station is maintained properly by inspecting gas pumps according to company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of cash register operations.
  • Basic knowledge of Workforce Management (WFM).
  • Basic knowledge of on-site fuel station procedures.
  • Ability to count and calculate for cash handling and sales transactions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with customers and partners.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives and box cutters.
  • Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jack (for partners at least 18 years of age).
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
