About the position

As a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) at United Rentals, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a diverse range of complex rental equipment. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with various systems, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems. You will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs in a safe and professional manner, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards. Your daily tasks will involve not only hands-on repairs but also maintaining accurate documentation of work performed, which is essential for tracking service history and ensuring customer satisfaction. In addition to your technical skills, you will also have the opportunity to assist in training lower-level technicians, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help develop the next generation of service professionals. This role may require you to travel to customer job sites for repairs and maintenance, so maintaining a clean and professional service vehicle is part of your responsibilities. You will also assist with the pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Perform safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
  • Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed.
  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis.
  • Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer-owned equipment when required; maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
  • Assist with the pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
  • Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
  • Must own tools applicable to position.
  • Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
