About the position
The Electric Vehicle Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing electric vehicles. This role involves performing routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing electric vehicle systems, and ensuring safety protocols are followed when working with high voltage systems. The technician will also interact with customers to explain repairs and maintain detailed records of services performed.
Responsibilities
- Performing regular maintenance tasks such as changing batteries, checking tire pressure, and replacing air filters.
- Identifying and fixing issues with electric vehicle systems, including battery systems, motors, and controllers.
- Conducting high voltage system testing and repairs, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Using diagnostic tools to test vehicle components and systems, and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Communicating with customers to explain repairs and maintenance work.
- Maintaining detailed records of all services and repairs performed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting experience
- Strong understanding of electric vehicle components and systems
- Experience with high voltage systems
- Problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues
- Attention to detail in performing repairs and maintenance tasks
- Knowledge of safety procedures when handling high voltage systems
- Effective communication skills to explain technical information to customers.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working on Electric Vehicles
- Experience with major engine repair
- Experience with medium and light duty trucks
- Technical/other training related to automotive technology
- Forklift certification
- EPA 609 certification
- CDL license
