About the position

Technicians and other related service roles at John Deere dealerships play a critical role in providing exceptional service and support to our customers by performing diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and technical support on a wide range of construction and heavy equipment. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering top-tier customer satisfaction and upholding the high standards synonymous with the John Deere brand.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct equipment inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to identify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on John Deere equipment, including excavators, backhoes, dozers, loaders and skid steers in accordance with technical manuals and dealership procedures.
  • Utilize specialized tools and equipment to complete service and repair work, ensuring the highest level of workmanship and safety standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service by effectively communicating repair processes, timelines, and recommendations to customers and internal team members.
  • Accurately document all service and repair activities, including parts usage, labor hours, and diagnostic findings, using dealership management systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal technical training program in diesel, mechanical, or agricultural equipment is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a technician or mechanic, preferably in the agricultural or heavy equipment industry.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy equipment, particularly John Deere products.
  • Strong understanding of diagnostic tools, software, and equipment, including the ability to interpret and act upon diagnostic codes and reports.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and parts (up to 50 pounds) as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Forklift operation certification for moving heavy parts.
  • Experience with John Deere Service ADVISOR™ or similar repair and diagnostic information systems.
  • Knowledge of warranties and parts return procedures.
