About the position

The IT Service Technician role at Miami-Dade County involves performing repairs and maintenance on various telecommunications equipment, including desktop and laptop computers, printers, and network devices. This position is essential for ensuring the functionality and reliability of IT systems within the county, utilizing diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques to resolve issues effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and printers.
  • Troubleshoot Local Area Network (LAN) issues and in-house plant cabling.
  • Utilize test equipment such as Fluke LAN/WAN meters and tone tracers for diagnostics.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot Ethernet connectivity issues.
  • Interpret schematics, blueprints, and floor plans for installation and repairs.
  • Implement desktop security best practices and perform rapid restoration of systems through imaging.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of personal computers and related equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Experience with TCP/IP and Active Directory.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft software, particularly Windows 10.
  • Familiarity with EIA/TIA 568 cable standards.
  • Knowledge of data recovery software and diagnostic testing equipment.
