About the position
The Service Technician position at Alkin Compressors Inc. involves installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various types of compressors and compressed air systems. This role is essential for ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication, technical support, and hands-on work to meet operational requirements. The technician will work in diverse conditions and is expected to maintain a professional image while providing high-quality service.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain rotary screw and reciprocating compressors and boosters.
- Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers, both verbally and in writing.
- Provide technical assistance on equipment pre-commissioning, start-ups, installations, and repairs.
- Conduct safety assessments in a changing work environment.
- Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
- Document service and installation activities by completing work orders and maintenance checklists.
- Increase customer awareness of company products and services, including warranty programs and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain rapport with customers by addressing complaints and suggesting improvements.
- Provide assistance and training to other colleagues.
- Complete preventative maintenance requirements and multi-point inspections on various compressed air components.
- Work with the Service Coordinator to order necessary parts and supplies.
Requirements
- 2-8 years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
- At least 2 years of experience with Rotary Screw Compressors preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Desired degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology or HVAC.
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams, motors/controls, and refrigeration systems.
- EPA 608 /F-GAS certification preferred.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer usage.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with Spanish/French as a plus.
- Strong customer service skills, including conflict management.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with advanced troubleshooting tools.
- Refrigeration experience/certification.
- Ability to work unsupervised and maintain a positive attitude.
