About the position

The Service Writer II position is responsible for managing daily service tasks, including handling breakdowns, assigning work to mechanics, and ensuring efficient operations within the shop. This role also involves training new mechanics, assisting with diagnostics, and improving workflows, all while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily service writer tasks such as managing breakdowns and assigning work to mechanics.
• Provide weekend coverage as needed.
• Manage inoperative equipment at G&D facilities.
• Work with operations to ensure necessary equipment is available for services and repairs.
• Assist in training new mechanics and verifying their work.
• Help technicians with diagnostics and repair issues.
• Monitor and improve efficiencies and workflows in the shop.
• Assist the shop manager with employee issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1-3 years of experience in a commercial maintenance shop, including hands-on mechanical experience.
• Experience using standard office equipment and maintenance software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis, and data presentation is useful.
• Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills are essential.
