About the position
The Service Writer is responsible for ensuring the proper and timely billing of customer and warranty work orders, preparing shipping and receiving documents, and maintaining compliance with administrative policies and safety standards. This role requires effective communication with other branches and the ability to assist the branch service manager with special projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all work orders for invoicing and proper descriptions to customer and/or warranty billing
- Prepare shipping and receiving documents for equipment movements
- Prepare warranty documents for delivery to customer via PSR
- Communicate with other branches regarding scheduling and reporting of machinery movements
- Assist the branch service manager in special projects and perform other duties as deemed necessary
- Perform all duties in a timely and effective manner according to company policies
- Foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate
- Consistently project the quality philosophy and vision of the company
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma required
- Minimum of two years of experience in the construction and mining equipment industry
- Experience in product support, i.e., parts, technical or supervisory
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from managers, employees, and customers
- Familiarity with MS Office Operating Systems: Excel, Word
- Experience with Lawson Operating System is a plus
