About the position

The Automotive Service Writer plays a crucial role in the service department by acting as the first point of contact for customers. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure superior service while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented atmosphere and be passionate about the automotive industry, ensuring customer satisfaction and effective service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison between technicians, ensuring clear communication about vehicle concerns, services required, and timelines.
  • Accurately create service orders and estimates, ensuring that all customer concerns are documented and addressed.
  • Stay organized and efficient, managing high volumes of inquiries, service requests, and work orders.
  • Recommend service and maintenance options based on manufacturer guidelines and best practices.
  • Lead by example in maintaining a guest-first attitude and taking ownership of the service experience.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Service and technicians to ensure timely and accurate completion of all service work.
  • Handle concerns and complaints professionally and effectively, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of automotive services, new vehicle technologies, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as an Automotive Service Writer or in a similar customer-facing role in the automotive industry.
  • Proven ability to lead by example and take initiative in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex automotive concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Strong customer service skills with a passion for creating exceptional experiences.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks at once, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills to resolve customer issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive systems and terminology is preferred.
  • Familiarity with dealership or service management software is a plus.
