About the position

In order for the global energy system to make the transition from a carbon-based grid, to a renewable energy grid, large scale energy storage must be introduced into the electricity system to balance intra-hour supply and demand. Energy storage is the enabler of high penetration variable renewable generation like solar and wind. We are looking for a Settlement Analyst to lead the confirmation, reconciliation, and settlements for its ERCOT operating assets. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, self-directed, and disciplined analyst. The position will focus on all settlement transactions in ERCOT.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with trading counterparties and RTOs/ISOs to validate and resolve any discrepancies in settlement invoices.
  • Prepare Power settlements checkout.
  • Perform daily independent validation/shadow settlements and verify all RTOs/ISOs/Counterparty settlement amounts.
  • If applicable, ensure all physical trades with counterparties are properly captured and perform as-needed checkouts with counterparties prior to scheduling with RTOs/ISOs.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly settlement of physical and financial trading activities (Accounts Payable/Receivable).
  • Check physical and derivatives confirmations from counterparties/brokers and communicate to commercial teams any disparities.
  • Provide training and support regarding Plus Power's processes and procedures as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum BA/BS in a quantitative discipline; Computer Science is preferred
  • Minimum of 2+ years of applicable work experience in the energy sector
  • Power settlement experience is strongly preferred; ERCOT experience a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical analysis in a simplified manner to the internal management team and/or external parties
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Ability to commute into our office in The Woodlands, Texas

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity/Experience with battery energy storage system is preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in Excel with Python, SQL, and PowerBI is preferred
