About the position
At Mohawk Industries, we are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Sew On Operators for our night shift. This position is crucial in ensuring that our production line runs smoothly and efficiently. As a Sew On Operator, you will be responsible for sewing rolls of carpet together in a timely manner to keep the shear supplied with carpet. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will verify that roll information matches the production schedule and scan roll tickets into our system, ensuring accurate record-keeping. Proper alignment of carpet on the sewing rail is essential, as is trimming the minimum amount of carpet to achieve a straight edge. You will also monitor the carpet for any holes or defects, tape any holes found, and keep the accumulator filled with carpet to maintain production flow. In addition to sewing, you will be expected to respond quickly to any equipment or process issues that may arise, closely monitor the carpet for quality, and maintain a clean work area. Safety is a priority, and you will be required to conform to safe work practices at all times. This position requires the ability to read and write in English, as well as basic math skills to perform necessary calculations related to the sewing process.
