About the position

The Sewer Technician 1 position at the Town of Waterford involves assisting in the maintenance and repair of sewer systems and related equipment. The role requires hands-on work with various mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and customer interaction, ensuring the efficient operation of sewer facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance Operator pump stations with the repair and maintenance of equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical operating systems and components.
• Assist in repair of grinder pumps.
• Daily cleaning of maintenance buildings.
• Check vehicles for supplies.
• Perform low echelon vehicle maintenance.
• Conduct grounds maintenance.
• Interact with customers in a professional manner.
• Troubleshoot grinder pumps and panels in private residences and make repairs if needed.
• Rebuild pump station components.
• Wire and install electric motors (240 volts).
• Calibrate gas detection equipment and maintain it.
• Troubleshoot and repair radio telemetry systems.
• Maintain and repair groundskeeping equipment.
• Operate and interact with numerous PLCs/CPUs located in pump stations.
• Responsible for the W.V.C. system when on call; make critical decisions and act upon them.

Requirements

• Experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring electric motors.
• Familiarity with gas detection equipment and radio telemetry systems.
• Experience with groundskeeping and maintenance of related equipment.
