Sexual Assault Client Advocate

About the position

The Sexual Assault Client Advocate at Katy Christian Ministries is responsible for providing crisis intervention and advocacy services to victims of sexual assault. This role involves direct victim services, outreach, training, and prevention education, ensuring that victims receive the necessary support and resources during their recovery process. The advocate will work closely with clients, third-party agencies, and participate in community outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention to victims of sexual assault via face-to-face or telephone communication.
• Advocate for sexual assault victims with third-party agencies through direct communication.
• Accompany victims to criminal justice, law enforcement, and medical appointments as needed.
• Assist victims with Crime Victim's Compensation and provide information and referrals.
• Support victims in utilizing Texas SAVNS/VINE, completing Victim Impact Statements, and participating in the Address Confidentiality Program.
• Participate in the 24-hour crisis hotline rotation as scheduled.
• Conduct follow-up with clients through telephone calls, face-to-face visits, and written correspondence.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate weekly support groups for clients.
• Engage in community outreach/training and prevention education as required by grant obligations.
• Attend the TAASA Conference for professional development.
• Input data into the CTK Apricot system and maintain accurate client files.
• Submit required reporting forms to the Director, including Daily Client Logs and Timesheets.
• Attend staff meetings to discuss and process cases.
• Organize and maintain Sexual Abuse resources as needed.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of case management experience.
• 2 years of college education, preferably a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
• Bilingual in Spanish is an asset.
