About the position
The Sexual Violence Advocate at Catherine Cobb Safe House provides personal and legal advocacy to victims of sexual violence, while also promoting systems change and community awareness. This full-time role involves direct support to survivors, collaboration with community partners, and participation in training and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal and legal advocacy to victims of sexual violence.
- Assist survivors with filling out PPO, NCO, and Victim's Compensation paperwork.
- Make appropriate referrals for internal support services and outside agencies.
- Provide training for law enforcement, court personnel, and community systems regarding services offered through CCSH.
- Respond to First Response calls and supervise First Responders.
- Conduct follow-up contacts with clients who have completed a SANE exam.
- Maintain updated resource materials for agency staff and clients.
- Attend networking meetings to build relationships with community partners.
- Organize planning for Sexual Violence awareness events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
- Valid Michigan Driver's License and access to transportation.
- Experience working with sexual violence survivors.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Experience working collaboratively with community partners.
