About the position

We are looking for a dedicated School Shadow Aide to provide one-on-one support for a bright and energetic 5-year-old child with high-functioning autism and ADHD during their school day. The role focuses on building emotional regulation and social skills while ensuring the child feels safe, engaged, and supported in their learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Attend school with the child, providing one-on-one support.
• Assist the child in navigating daily routines, activities, and social interactions.
• Help guide the child through moments of frustration and resistance with a calm, patient approach.
• Encourage participation in hands-on activities to keep the child engaged.
• Provide thoughtful feedback about the child's progress and any challenges that arise.

Requirements

• Experience working with children on the autism spectrum or with ADHD.
• Understanding of how to handle challenging behaviors with patience and creativity.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff and follow the school's guidelines.
• Previous experience as a preschool or school aide is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required.

Nice-to-haves

• First aid certification is a plus.
