About the position

Tlingit and Haida Tribal Business Council is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Business Development team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business development and proposal writing, particularly in the context of government contracts. Responsibilities include reviewing government-issued Requests for Proposals (RFPs), proofreading proposals prior to submission, and coordinating color team reviews for live proposals. This internship will provide a deeper understanding of business development processes, proposal writing techniques, and the requirements for securing government contracts. Interns will gain practical experience in analyzing RFPs, creating compliant proposals, and navigating the complexities of government procurement. This position is ideal for students looking to build foundational skills in business development while contributing to meaningful projects that support organizational success.

Responsibilities

  • Review RFPs released by government agencies to identify key requirements and opportunities.
  • Proofread and edit proposals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with guidelines.
  • Coordinate and facilitate color team reviews for live proposals.
  • Support the proposal development process by organizing and managing documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop high-quality submissions that meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant tools
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Must be age 18 at time of hire
  • Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years)

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internship or work experience in business development or proposal writing (preferred but not required).
  • At least a 2.5 GPA
  • Strong critical thinking and research skills
  • Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
