About the position

The SHARPS Ops Coordinator position is a time-limited full-time role within the North Carolina Division of Public Health, specifically in the Communicable Disease Branch. This division is dedicated to promoting health and managing infectious diseases that are reportable to the state health department. The SHARPS program focuses on the Surveillance for Healthcare Associated and Resistant Pathogens Patient Safety Program, which involves collaboration with various partners across federal, state, and local governments, healthcare systems, and professional organizations. In this role, the coordinator will be responsible for executing and coordinating the daily functions of the SHARPS program. This includes managing contracts and Agreement Addenda that facilitate infection prevention efforts statewide. The coordinator will oversee post-award management and the programmatic aspects of subrecipient monitoring, which entails reconciling and summarizing financial and programmatic activity data. As the program's expert, the coordinator will handle processes related to purchasing, travel, contracts, event planning, and other operational functions. Additionally, the coordinator will plan and organize program activities and events, such as statewide advisory group meetings and program conferences, while also addressing routine activities and problem-solving procedural issues. Support for the Medical Consulting Unit's operational functions may also be required as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and coordinate daily functions of the SHARPS program.

  • Support operational functions of the Medical Consulting Unit as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience managing a variety of business and records functions.
  • Experience analyzing, interpreting, and implementing policy and procedures.
  • Experience assessing and resolving problems requiring research and review of policy and procedures.
  • Experience compiling and summarizing financial data for budget analysis and forecasting.
  • Ability to perform research, data collection, analysis of information, and report writing.
  • Effective communication skills in oral and written form.
  • Experience analyzing moderately complex business operations and financial statements.
  • Experience in organizing workflow and coordinating activities.
