About the position
The Sheet Metal Installation Mechanic will be responsible for installing, assembling, and maintaining HVAC and air distribution systems for new commercial construction projects. This role requires expertise in reading blueprints, laying out ductwork, and using trade-specific tools, making it essential for the successful execution of commercial air distribution systems.
Responsibilities
- Install commercial sheet metal and HVAC equipment, including various duct systems (sheet metal, flexible duct, duct socks, and occasionally duct board).
- Read and interpret blueprints, cut sheets, sketches, and schematics to guide installation.
- Perform layout and setup of ductwork and equipment based on project specifications.
- Ensure effective communication with co-workers and customers to maintain project flow.
- Assist with mentoring apprentices to develop their skills and knowledge in the trade.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three years of experience in commercial sheet metal installation.
- Proficiency in sheet metal systems and efficient use of trade tools.
- Working knowledge of SMACNA standards.
- Ability to accurately perform trade-related math computations.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and acceptable motor vehicle record required.
- Must be comfortable working with heights and confined spaces.
- Competence with digital devices such as computers, tablets, and smartphones.
- Must be able to provide all necessary hand tools for the role.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge and experience with some aspects of plumbing is helpful.
- Scissor lift, boom lift, and rough terrain forklift experience/certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
