About the position

The Shelter Attendant at WestCare Foundation provides essential services to clients in a Domestic Violence Shelter, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for victims and their children. This role involves client supervision, crisis counseling, and coordination of activities, while also maintaining facility operations and adhering to program requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Complete documentation of services on provided forms in a timely manner.
  • Provides client supervision in daily activities and general program operations.
  • Provides crisis counseling and support to victims and children.
  • Presents groups and activities designed to support children who have witnessed domestic violence.
  • Conduct and coordinate children's groups and activities.
  • Oversees overall facility maintenance and meal preparation.
  • Perform All Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP) duties as required.
  • Complete daily point of service recordkeeping including meal count worksheets, menus, infant feeding records & food temperature log.
  • Provides input into the clients' treatment needs and disposition.
  • Assist other WestCare staff as needed in a collaborative manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working within a social service setting.
  • Possess or able to obtain Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card.
  • Able to pass Arizona Central Registry background check.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to operate a computer and complete documents in Microsoft Word or the ability to learn.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in crisis intervention or counseling.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence issues and resources.
