About the position

The Shelter Operations Coordinator at Zepf Center is responsible for overseeing the general operations of a youth homeless and runaway shelter. This role includes direct oversight of residential specialists, administrative duties, and management of data entry for runaway and homeless youth services. The coordinator will assist with hiring, training, and performance evaluations of program staff, ensuring a trauma-informed environment for both staff and youth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and ensure positive interaction with youth by staff and demonstrate appropriate boundaries and practices.
  • Oversight of resident schedules and activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment through trauma-informed care, positive youth development, and harm reduction approach.
  • Ensure all staff are participating in programming and life skills with youth.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor Residential Specialists through group and individual supervision, including performance evaluation and improvement.
  • Assist Manager in interviewing, hiring, and terminating the employment of supervisees when necessary.
  • Manage residential specialist daily schedules and monthly on-call to ensure adequate staffing and coverage, minimizing overtime.
  • Assist with scheduling, time off requests, and timecard approvals when delegated by manager.
  • Serve as a backup to program staff by supervising, coaching, and mentoring youth while building rapport and engaging youth in programming.
  • Perform audits of entry and exit paperwork to ensure accuracy and completion by staff, engaging in the CQI process for chart reviews.
  • Help manage grant data by completing resident roster and follow-up calls when residents exit the shelter.
  • Manage productivity of staff daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Manage the purchasing and delivery of food services to youth.
  • Provide training to new and current Residential Specialists.

Requirements

  • Associates degree preferred
  • 2 Years of management experience preferred
  • 1 Year of experience with residential/homeless services required
  • 4 years' experience working with youth and families from diverse backgrounds and service providers who assist youth and families required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • Must hold and maintain a Driver's License with good record
