About the position

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) is seeking a dedicated and hardworking IT professional to join their team as a Sheriff's Applications and Database Specialist. This full-time position is integral to the operations of a full-service law enforcement agency, focusing on the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of applications and databases. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing training in the use of these systems, ensuring that all personnel can effectively utilize the technology available to them. In this role, the specialist will manage SQL databases, oversee user and group administration, and provide application support and development. The position also entails performing software updates and patches, as well as troubleshooting and repairing both software and hardware issues. A significant aspect of the job involves developing reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Crystal Reports, which are essential for assisting crime analysts, administrative staff, and other end-users in their daily operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server database administration and configuration, software development in .NET for both desktop and mobile devices, and experience in generating complex reports using SAP Crystal and Microsoft SSRS. Familiarity with Central Square systems is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to integrate with existing systems and processes within the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures, modifies, maintains and troubleshoots FCSO systems software.
  • Serves as security administrator for law enforcement systems.
  • Compiles data and develops complex statistical reports used by various department personnel.
  • Works with other IT personnel to maintain servers for use by the FCSO staff including SQL, Exchange, Windows and SAP Crystal.
  • Supports the electronic document imaging system as needed.
  • Develops, implements and supports software applications that benefit agency personnel.
  • Provides assistance to all members of the FCSO IT team as needed.
  • Works closely with County MIS staff and outside vendors as needed.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in computer science or related academic field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience working with SQL Server database administration and configuration.
  • Experience in software development in .NET for desktop/mobile devices.
  • Experience in complex report generation in SAP Crystal and Microsoft SSRS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Central Square systems.
