About the position

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) is seeking a dedicated and hardworking IT professional to join their team as a Sheriff's Applications and Database Specialist. This full-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to work within a full-service law enforcement agency. The primary responsibilities of this role include developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting applications and databases, as well as providing training to users on these systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL database management and application support, ensuring that the FCSO's technological needs are met efficiently and effectively. In this role, the specialist will be responsible for managing SQL databases, administering user and group access, and providing application support and development. This includes performing software updates and patches, as well as troubleshooting and repairing both software and hardware issues. A significant aspect of the job involves developing reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Crystal Reports, which are essential for assisting crime analysts, administrative staff, and other end-users in their daily operations. The position also entails installing, configuring, modifying, and maintaining FCSO systems software. The specialist will serve as the security administrator for law enforcement systems, ensuring that sensitive data is protected and accessible only to authorized personnel. Additionally, the role requires compiling data and developing complex statistical reports that are utilized by various department personnel. Collaboration with other IT personnel is crucial for maintaining servers that support FCSO staff, including SQL, Exchange, Windows, and SAP Crystal. The specialist will also support the electronic document imaging system as needed and will be expected to develop, implement, and support software applications that enhance the efficiency of agency personnel. Providing assistance to all members of the FCSO IT team and working closely with County MIS staff and outside vendors will also be part of the job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot applications and databases.
  • Provide training in the use of applications and databases.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in software troubleshooting.
  • Mid-level experience with SQL.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
