About the position

The Shift Coordinator is responsible for leading and managing the production team during night shifts, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in operations. This role involves effective communication, problem-solving, and coordination with various support groups to meet production objectives and maintain a high standard of workplace practices.

Responsibilities

• Model excellence in safety, quality, and all functions of the facility.
• Follow all safety requirements including the wearing and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Lead by example and provide the team with a vision of Safety First, and both Production and Quality Objectives.
• Ensure clear and effective communication at all levels of the organization.
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the assigned shift's production team.
• Follow all Work Instructions and procedures to ensure standardized work is performed at all operations.
• Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, and continuous improvement.
• Lead the process of STOP, CALL, WAIT and quarantine suspect parts until decisions are made for disposition.
• Encourage Kaizen improvement, completing at least one improvement per month.
• Act as the first point of contact for production technicians and coordinate activities with support groups.
• Ensure compliance with quality investigations and workplace guidelines.
• Work with the Production Manager to obtain necessary resources for the team.
• Act as a backup for the production manager in coordinating with external customers.
• Provide daily reporting of production activities for the designated shift.
• Schedule daily production activities to meet customer requirements.
• Oversee Material Handling and Supply Inventory.
• Assist the Production Manager with Time and Attendance management.
• Coach and help develop team members, resolving any behavior that does not follow workplace guidelines.
• Monitor breaks and lunches of all team members to verify compliance with times.
• Facilitate problem-solving and escalate unresolved issues to the Production Manager.
• Assist in the investigation and closure of all work-related incidents in the area of responsibility.
• Work with the Training Coordinator to schedule training meetings.

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing is a plus.
• Computer skills required including Microsoft Office and Email.
• Strong oral communication skills required.
• Knowledge of Toyota Production Systems is beneficial.
• Ability to manage and implement MSA techniques.
• Excellent leadership and management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Competent in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision-making.
• A self-starter and highly motivated individual.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Kaizen improvement processes.
• Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety regulations.
