This position is part of the Hardware Engineering & Maintenance Team, located south of Annapolis, MD. The role involves supporting operations and maintenance for a large-scale RF Communications system that operates in a real-time, 24x7 environment. The primary responsibility is to provide shift support for this complex hardware-software communications system. This includes performing preventative and corrective maintenance across multiple external interfaces over a robust multi-tiered network. The role requires direct interaction with operational customers and mission partners to provide technical assessments and operational work-around recommendations. Daily activities may include resolving discrepancy reports, providing O&M training and mentoring, trending data, developing procedures, collecting data, isolating faults, and executing real-time manual actions to restore system capabilities. The candidate will also assist in developing troubleshooting and recovery plans and executing management and customer briefs. Participation in corrective maintenance will involve removing, replacing, repairing, and testing failed hardware. The selected candidate will work closely with delivering factories to support development activities, installation efforts, and special test configurations. It is important to note that the applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information prior to starting. Physical requirements include the ability to climb multiple sets of stairs, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and work in non-environment-controlled spaces. The candidate must be available to work 1st and 3rd shifts through a weekly rotation, including two weekends a month to meet 24x7 staffing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operations and maintenance shift support for a large, integrated, complex hardware-software communications system.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance across multiple external interfaces over a robust multi-tiered network.
  • Interact directly with operational customers and mission partners to provide technical assessments and operational work-around recommendations.
  • Resolve discrepancy reports and provide O&M training and mentoring.
  • Trend data, develop procedures, and collect data for system maintenance.
  • Isolate faults and perform real-time manual actions to restore system capabilities.
  • Assist in developing troubleshooting and recovery plans and execute management and customer briefs.
  • Participate in corrective maintenance, including remove/replace, repair, and testing of failed hardware.
  • Work closely with delivering factories to support development activities, installation efforts, and special test configurations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of RF communications antennas.
  • Knowledge of networks, IT systems, and real-time software applications supporting communications systems.
  • Current TS/SCI clearance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Leadership experience on small maintenance teams.
  • Information Technology experience with an IAT level 1 certification.
  • Proven working knowledge of varied test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum/link/network analyzers, power meters, and signal generation equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with facility support systems for RF terminal systems (power, HVAC, etc.).
  • Prior military electronics and/or satellite communications training/experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant, professional experience, or 5 years of experience with no college degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years technical experience with RF communication antennas and associated transmit and receive hardware systems.
