About the position

The Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing employees in a Distribution Center, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety standards during their shift. Reporting to the On-Site Manager, the Shift Lead communicates expectations, conducts safety meetings, and manages employee performance while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Communicate expectations and goals to employees daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Promote a safe working environment and ensure safety standards are met under the direction of the On-Site Manager.
• Conduct safety meetings with employees and establish safety expectations.
• Communicate customer needs or concerns effectively.
• Coach, train, provide feedback, and hold employees accountable as necessary.
• Complete all production paperwork accurately.
• Communicate directly with the On-Site Manager regarding employee issues.
• Load and unload materials from trailers.
• Move pallets or materials on pallets or in crates around the storage facility.
• Stack pallets or materials correctly following inventory control instructions.
• Check to ensure loads are secure.
• Perform daily equipment checks on all industrial power equipment.
• Follow instructions for operating equipment and maintain accurate records.
• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Organize and maintain file systems and records.
• Perform basic financial data entry.
• Execute assignments accurately, timely, and safely.
• Assist with forklift driver duties as needed.

Requirements

• Supervisor or lead experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good math, language, and reading skills with attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills.
• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Forklift certification per OSHA standards.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
• Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights.
