About the position

The Shift Lead at Walgreens is responsible for overseeing store operations in the absence of management, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This role includes managing cash handling, customer service, inventory control, and assisting with training and development of team members. The Shift Lead plays a crucial role in delivering a positive customer experience and maintaining store compliance with policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store in the absence of management, including cash handling and system start-ups.
  • Engage customers and resolve issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model customer service best practices and train team members accordingly.
  • Hold store keys and manage store operations without management present.
  • Assist with vendor deliveries and inventory management processes.
  • Register all sales accurately and manage cash register operations.
  • Assist in evaluating and developing promotional displays and resets.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure compliance with pricing regulations.
  • Assist with bookkeeping activities and cash reports as needed.
  • Ensure the store is clean and orderly, requesting repairs as necessary.
  • Assist with food item separation and stock rotation according to policies.
  • Communicate tasks and issues to team members in the absence of management.
  • Attend training and maintain required certifications.

Requirements

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
