About the position

The Shift Lead at Walgreens is responsible for overseeing store operations in the absence of management, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This role includes managing cash handling, customer service, and inventory control while providing leadership to team members. The Shift Lead plays a crucial role in delivering a positive customer experience and maintaining store standards.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store in the absence of management, including cash handling and system start-ups.
  • Engage customers by greeting them and assisting with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Hold store keys to open and close the store as necessary.
  • Assist and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes.
  • Register all sales accurately on the cash register, including handling scanning errors and price modifications.
  • Assist management in reviewing order exceptions and reverse logistics.
  • Evaluate and develop displays for promotional and seasonal merchandise.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure compliance with the Outdate program.
  • Make daily price changes and ensure proper signage is displayed in the store.
  • Assist with bookkeeping activities as necessary.
  • Ensure the store is clean and orderly, requesting repairs as needed.
  • Assist with food item separation and stock rotation according to policies.
  • Have working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Assist at the Pharmacy out window as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Conduct bag checks of team members before leaving the store.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
