About the position

The Shift Lead at Walgreens is responsible for overseeing store operations in the absence of management, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This role includes engaging with customers to provide exceptional service, managing cash handling processes, and maintaining store inventory and appearance. The Shift Lead also plays a key role in training team members and communicating effectively between management and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Hold store keys to open and close the store as necessary.
  • Assist and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register, including handling scanning errors and price modifications.
  • Assist management in reviewing order exceptions and reverse logistics.
  • Evaluate and develop displays for promotional and seasonal merchandise.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and ensure compliance with the Outdate program.
  • Handle basic department pricing and ensure proper signage is displayed.
  • Assist with bookkeeping activities, including cash reports and ledgers.
  • Ensure the store is clean and orderly, requesting repairs as needed.
  • Support execution of the Pickup program and assist at the Pharmacy out window as required.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Conduct bag checks of team members before leaving the store.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Valid PTCB or ExCPT certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
