About the position

The Shift Lead at Walgreens is responsible for overseeing store operations in the absence of management, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This role includes managing customer experiences, handling cash transactions, and maintaining store inventory and compliance with regulations. The Shift Lead also plays a key role in training team members and communicating effectively between management and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Opens and closes the store in the absence of store management.
  • Completes product returns, order voids, customer refunds, and cash drops to the safe.
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with team members.
  • Responsible for holding store keys to open and close without management as necessary.
  • Assists with and coaches team members on warehouse and vendor ordering processes.
  • Registers all related sales on assigned cash register, including managing scanning errors and price modifications.
  • Assists management in reviewing order exceptions and reverse logistics.
  • Evaluates and develops displays, including promotional and seasonal merchandise.
  • Maintains accurate inventory counts and ensures compliance with pricing regulations.
  • Assists with bookkeeping activities, including cash reports and ledgers.
  • Ensures clean and orderly store conditions and requests repairs as needed.
  • Assists with food item separation and stock rotation according to policies.
  • Has working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Assists at the Pharmacy out window as requested.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Responsible for bag checks of team members before leaving the store.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
