About the position

As a Shift Lead at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the store in the absence of management. This position is designed for individuals who are ready to take on significant responsibilities and make a positive impact on both customers and team members. You will be the point of contact between management and staff, facilitating communication and ensuring that all operations run efficiently. Your leadership will be essential in creating a welcoming environment for customers and maintaining high standards of service and store presentation. In this role, you will be responsible for opening and closing the store, which includes managing cash handling procedures and ensuring that the store is prepared for business each day. You will engage with customers, providing assistance and resolving any issues they may encounter, thereby enhancing their shopping experience. Your ability to model excellent customer service practices will be vital in training and guiding other team members to deliver exceptional service. You will also oversee various operational tasks, including inventory management, product returns, and compliance with local regulations. Your attention to detail will ensure that pricing is accurate and that the store maintains a clean and orderly appearance. Additionally, you will assist in training new employees and communicating tasks to team members when management is not present. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to upholding Walgreens' standards and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Opens and closes the store in the absence of store management, including all required systems start-ups and cash handling.
  • Completes product returns, order voids, customer refunds, and cash drops to the safe.
  • Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
  • Responsible for holding store keys to open and close without management as necessary.
  • Assists with and coaches other team members in the warehouse and vendor ordering process.
  • Responsible for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, including records of scanning errors and price modifications.
  • Assists manager in reviewing order exceptions and reverse logistics.
  • Assists in evaluating and developing displays, including promotional and seasonal merchandise.
  • Maintains accurate inventory counts and ensures compliance with the Outdate program.
  • Responsible for basic department pricing and making daily price changes.
  • Assists with bookkeeping activities, including cash reports and ledgers.
  • Ensures clean, neat, and orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Assists with separation of food items and stock rotation.
  • Has working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Assists at Pharmacy out window as requested.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Responsible for bag checks of team members before leaving the store.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
  • Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager.
  • Obtains and maintains valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
  • Serves as a liaison between management and non-management team members.

Requirements

  • One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
