About the position

The Shift Lead at Banfield Pet Hospital is responsible for managing the flow of clients and pets to ensure exceptional client care and productivity of the veterinary medical team. This role involves actively recruiting new clients, maximizing the number of pets seen, and providing professional service while supporting the Practice Manager in various operational tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services.
  • Manage routing the flow of clients and pets to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team.
  • Maximize the number of pets seen by the hospital team through a productive and efficiently run hospital.
  • Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times, including client education and comfort.
  • Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian and veterinary technician.
  • Assist Practice Manager in developing an efficient, productive hospital team.
  • Support Practice Manager in hospital labor management, including adjusting schedules.
  • Assist in the selection, training, and supervision of the paraprofessional team.
  • Provide effective communication between associates, clients, hospital leadership and Central Team Support.
  • Ensure all hospital associates adhere to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.
  • Prepare hospitalized pets and ensure all equipment is ready for surgery.
  • Assist Practice Manager in identifying potential bottlenecks in medical operations.
  • Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates.
  • Quality check medical records and ensure hospital cleanliness.

Requirements

  • Experience in a veterinary or healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical practices and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in client service or sales.
  • Familiarity with veterinary software systems.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role.
