About the position

We are searching for a full-time shift leader to join our team at Gong Cha in Closter, NJ. As a shift leader, you will be responsible for leading each shift and working alongside a team of tea baristas to deliver quality customer service and expertly-crafted products. You will be a role model at the store for operational standards, ensuring that the highest quality of customer service and drinks are maintained. This position requires you to open on weekdays from Monday to Friday between 10 AM and 4 PM, and work on weekends (Saturday or Sunday, or both). In this role, you will take orders accurately via a point-of-sales system in a courteous manner and prepare ingredients and drinks following specific instructions. You will also prepare the kitchen, ensuring that ingredients are readily available at all times, and maintain inventory by stocking and managing daily counts. The shift leader must be able to unload and organize inventory, which may require lifting boxes, and maintain a clean work environment by properly cleaning and sanitizing the store for closing. As a shift leader, you will direct employees to ensure the flow of operations runs smoothly and communicate efficiently with upper management and coworkers. You will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment and be on your feet for extended periods. This position offers growth opportunities to move up within the company, including raises and promotions, and you will have the ability to positively influence and guide others while growing your leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be a team leader able to guide employees while working under pressure.
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • At least six (6) months of experience delegating tasks to other employees.
  • Six (6) months of experience in a position that required constant interaction with customers.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Nice-to-haves

  • Barista experience (1 year preferred).
  • Ability to speak other languages, such as Korean or Chinese.
